Fix your Bad Adobe InDesign Files!

Bad or corrupt Adobe InDesign documents are becoming more and more a fact of life. Granted, thankfully there are far less than QuarkXPress had back in its earlier days, but still enough to be a headache- especially when you do not have a back-up and a months worth of work is hanging on salvaging that layout.

Whether it just crashes on open or gives you a worrying messgae such as just below, the effect is the same- HELP ME!

“InDesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incnveience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.”

Fix your Bad Adobe InDesign Files!
Markzware, well know for it’s QuarkXPress fixing XTension MarkzTools and conversion tools, such as the ever-still popular Q2ID (Quark to InDesign) Plugin is working on a tool that hopefully one day will make fixing bad or not opening InDesign files a cinch. Till then, we have a nice service (no cure-no pay. $99) where will will attempt to fix your flaky InDesign CS documents. Just email sales@markzware.com with the document (if less than 15MB) or email us for our FTP details if larger. Even if you do not want to pay, we would still love to see your strange InDesign files for our R&D.

The way we try to recover these documents is quite amazing in it’s own right, yet has a very high percentage of success (Oddly, you need QuarkXPress in the middle!). Check it out in this video:

  1. Maqueta Inc. Says:

About two weeks ago InDesign CS4 crashed from an unknown error taking along with it one of the 55 page travel book I was working on. No back-ups or other files existed. After reading every single article about corrupt InDesign files and how rare it happens I thought I was a goner and that I had to start the book again from scratch. I read the article here but I still couldn’t solve the problem since it was a InDesign CS4 file. That’s when I decided to contact the Markzware guys. I quickly wrote and email explaining what my problem was and half an hour later it was answered with instructions on how to upload the file for fixing. I uploaded the file and 1 day later I receive the best news I’ve heard in a long time “We were able to fix your file”. I received the file and indeed it was fixed. Pfiuuuuu, and I thought I was a goner. I would like to sincerely thank the Markzware team for fixing my file.
