Export to Flash after FlightCheck Preflight

A preflight check before you export content is commonly associated with prepress and print. This patented output quality control method is increasingly being used for another form of output: to export to Flash. It is recommended that you export to Flash after a preflight check with FlightCheck, which can preflight Adobe Creative 4 and Illustrator files to thoroughly check Illustrator before you output to print or web.

Before you export to Adobe Flash you might want to do a preflight check for output quality control to ensure that really WYSIWYG when you export content. Among the things to preflight check:

• Color: Don’t think you can just take a CMYK layout and export to Flash. Flash uses the RGB color space and any spot colors – Pantone is a great example – will be shifted to the RGB space.
• Transparency: Make sure, especially when exporting to the SWF format, that transparent objects don’t overlap any interactive objects. There is a risk that the interactivity may be lost.
• 3D graphics: Any 3D effects or attributes used in InDesign – Text on a path – will not export to Flash or to SWF format.
• Font Type: TLF only works with OpenType and TrueType fonts. Postscript fonts are not allowed.

Before you export to Flash, you can often check Illustrator with the same preflight check as that for other files.
