Gutenberg, Printing and FlightCheck
Markzware invented FlightCheck, the preflight solution to check many file formats, such as Adobe InDesign, Acrobat PDF, Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher, QuarkXPress and more, for print quality assurance. FlightCheck thoroughly scans files to find possible print errors so that they can be fixed during preflighting, before printing.
Johannes Gutenberg is the inventor of the movable type printing press. A few years ago, I visited Dalim Software in Strasburg, the home of Gutenberg, with my colleague, David Dilling. Check out this video as we wondered aloud “Would Gutenberg have used FlightCheck?”
Would Gutenberg Have Used FlightCheck?
It would only make sense for professionals in the printing industry to use FlightCheck, the standard preflight solution that can check documents for missing fonts, low-resolution images, and many other potential print errors before they happen. FlightCheck would save any printing professional, and would have saved Gutenberg, a lot of time, money, labor and materials, since it catches printing problems before they print. So, Gutenberg would have been likely to use FlightCheck if he could have, and also would have likely had a big appreciation for FlightCheck’s ability to provide print quality assurance.
