Video on Down-Saving QuarkXPress 8 to lower Versions
Markzware gets requests asking if MarkzTools 8 can assist in saving down a Quark Project to a .qxd 4 or version 6 type document. While it is hard to say exactly how many Quark 4.11 users are out there, you may be surprised at how often we get these requests.
MarkzTools 8 (demo), long known for its ability to recover or fix bad file format can also verify or ensure document integrity and perform text extraction, among other things. Today, we look at the feature to export files to lower versions of QuarkXPress, such as v6. Here is a video of how it works:

Hi there
I have a prospective client who is still in 4.11. I am in 6. Is there any way to step back? Is there any programme available?
J
Sorry Jane, we no longer have MarkzTools 6 on the market; only MarkzTools 7 and MarkzTools 8. If you Upgrade to Quak 8, then of course MarkzTools will allow you to down-save to v4.11…
Take care,
David

Hi Siva, Markztools 8 is what you need:
http://markzware.com/products/markztools/
You can watch here at about the 1:20 (one minute, twenty-second) part of this video. In the video we export to Quark v4. But above that option is “Export to Quark v6″ and that is what you will choose – having the file open you want to down-save:
We can also do this for you via our Conversion Service. We charge per-page and you can email sales AT markzware.com for more info on that.
When are you going to come out with your
QuarkXPress version 8 to v6
for Windows
Hi Betty, thank you for dropping a comment on the Markzware blog. At this time we do not plan a Markztools 8 for Windows. We have not had as much request from Windows users as Quark 8 Mac users for this down-saving and file recovery tool. If that changes, we will surely evaluate. Markztools in Quark 7 or 8 on a Mac can however handle Windows QuarkXPress files as well. So if you have a Mac or know someone who does, than this may assist.
We also offer a “Conversion Service” and you can email sales AT markzware DOT com for more info on this.
Take care,
David
