Partial Transcript:

Hi my name is Pat Marchese with Markzware and I’m here to introduce a brand new product by the name of PageZephyr.  PageZephyr desktop search is a reader for Quark, InDesign and Publisher, and soon PageMaker and other document types.

What we are doing is making previously unsearchable content, searchable. You can also edit, republish rearrange and distribute that search content to the Internet, like for instance Google Docs, Scribd, WordPress BuzzWord and other online applications.

In a nut-shell, what PageZephyr desktop search  is bridging the print world (and publishing) with the Internet or the online world. And it is a product we have been working a long time on and it’s based off of our “Common Reader Architecture.” So, I would like you to see it, thus, without any further ado, here is Doug Rosen to give you a demonstration.

Hello, this is Doug Rosen from Markzware and I am going to show you a new technology we have released here at PRINT 09 called PageZephy desktop search engine. This is a stand-alone application which can read Quark and InDesign files, search the text, index and extract it out, so let’s take a look at what the product is…

In the screen-captured movie inserted, first I show you the “Preferences” section of PageZephyr highlighting the file formats we support today, being QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign, and how you can choose which folders or volumes to index; note that you can even get styled text with all formatting.

Next, I show you how you can click down into any given indexed file and see all of the text stories used in that document. You can then view them one-by-one or as I do, combine several together with a simple shift-select process. Then, I briefly show you how you can take the combined text stories and edit them! Delete, make bold, add new search content, you name it!

Then, we show you how you can search inside InDesign and Quark files without having them open! We highlight the found text, and you can see all of the documents which contain this keyword search. It should be noted, that you can sort right through PageZephyr, and open the native layout file.

Lastly, we show you how we can upload the search content to many portals, such as Google Docs, WordPress and our own portal site for content, PageZephyr.com. It is really easy, you can add tags and categories, hit Export and off it goes: previously locked up content, now free up your content on the Internet. You can also simply save the stylized text as a RTF file or text.
