Quark to InDesign in the News(week)
We see in this post, “Newsweek Switch from Quark to Adobe” that there are still QuarkXPress users and quite a few at that. Yet this switch from Quark to InDesign (and InCopy) seemed interesting, as we can read:
“Newsweek Magazine recently completed production of its much-heralded magazine re-design. At the center of this effort was their Teambase workgroup publishing system, designed and developed by Agile Enterprise, a division of HudsonYards. Newsweek switched its QuarkXPress-based production to Adobe InDesign and InCopy in a single publication cycle.”

I wonder if they used Markzware Q2ID or QuarkXPress to Adobe InDesign CS4 plug-in (and CS3) for converting magazine layout or magazine layouts with one-click though? Quark to InDesign Q2ID Quark 8 can convert Quark content into Adobe InDesign magazine layout. Content conversion is easy with Q2ID open Quark file in InDesign. Check out how easily Q2ID InDesign qxd Q2ID moves QuarkXPress to ID in this video demonstration.

I happen to know they did consider both. They’re pretty slick. However, the conversion coincided with a complete redesign done in InDesign, so wholesale template conversions weren’t needed.
