PageZephyr Activity Window
The PageZephyr Activity Window allows you to see stats about how many files have been indexed since PageZephyr was last started and a cumulative total of files that have been indexed.
001 – Bringing up the Activity Window
The PageZephyr Activity Window can be viewed by either using the Shift-Command-A key sequence or selecting Activity Window from the Window menu.
002 – The Activity Window
The Activity Window consists of three main parts:
The Current Run Area (1) which displays stats for the current session of PageZephyr. Current session means since you have last started PageZephyr.
The Stats Area (2) shows a running total of all documents that are currently indexed by PageZephyr. This includes files that are on unmounted volumes or in folders on unmounted volumes.
The Show Failed/Unsupported Documents disclosure area (3) . Clicking on the disclosure triangle reveals an area that lists documents that have been flagged as failed or unsupported. This area also allows you to collect these files to send to Markzware for inspection.
003 – The Show Failed/Unsupported Documents Area
If you have files that have failed in PageZephyr, or have been flagged as unsupported, you can package up these files and send the archive to Markzware for examination. This will help improve PageZephyr. Select the appropriate Failed or Unsupported (1) tab to view and collect the types of files you are interested in.
The collected files are archived as a .tgz file, which can uploaded to Markzware by visiting and completing the PageZephyr Tech Support Form.
If the files that have failed or are unsupported are located on a volume or folder that is not mounted or available, their file names will be displayed in red text in the File List Area (4). You will need to re-mount the volume, rename the folder or create a new folder and index it, pointing to where these files reside in order to use the Collect Into Archive feature in PageZephyr.
To Collect failed or unsupported files, select the files that you want to collect and click on the Collect Into Archive button (3). This will bring up a Save Window where you can name your archive file. The Only collect selected checkbox (2) if enabled will only collect the files in the File List Area that are highlighted, otherwise all files in the list will be collected and compressed. Any file displayed in red text cannot be collected as PageZephyr cannot find the file.
**A note about failed versus unsupported files - A Failed file is a file that PageZephyr thinks is a valid supported file format but for some unknown reason cannot be processed. Typically this will be caused by some form of corruption present in a file or the use of a third party Plug-In or XTension that has written data into the file that PageZephyr does not understand. Just because a file opens in Quark, InDesign or Publisher does not mean that the file is OK or uncorrupted. There may still be corrupt data that is in the file, that is not visible. An Unsupported file, is a file that PageZephyr does not think is within the proper version range of file types it understands. For example, if you submit a series of Quark 3 files or InDesign 1 files, these should be unsupported.
005 – Failed File Archive
After successfully saving your archived failed files, you can use this .tgz file (1) to send us the failed files using the PageZephyr Tech Support Form. At the bottom of the form select the Browse button (2) and navigate to the archive or failed file(s). Please remember to fill out the top part of the form, as well.
008- The Activity Window after quitting and restarting PageZephyr
Every time Markzware PageZephyr is restarted, all of the Current Run (1) numbers are reset to 0. The Stats numbers (2) are not reset, they continue showing how many documents are currently contained in PageZephyr’s index list.
