(1) The File List area is located on the left side of the PageZephyr main window. This area is resizable by hovering over the right edge of the dividing area and when the cursor changes to a resize cursor (2), dragging the right edge left or right to resize the window.

002 – Documents and Stories in the File List

The File List shows documents and stories.

Documents (1) are comprised of stories (2).

If the original Quark, InDesign or Publisher document contains linked or threaded text containers, PageZephyr treats all of the linked text containers as a single story. Items like image captions in non-linked text containers will be treated as separate stories.

003 – The Storyboard area

The Storyboard Window (1) is the window located on the right side of the PageZephyr main window. This is the area where you can view the text content of your Quark, InDesign and Publisher documents. To view text content, click on a Story icon to view its text content in the Storyboard window.

004 – The Search Entry Area

005 – Story Separator

If you have more than a single Story displayed in the Storyboard window, PageZephyr will place a separator between stories. The separator is a short dashed line (1 & 2).

006 – Context Popup menu for Documents

If you Right-Click or Control-Click on a Document icon, you are presented with a popup menu (1) that allows you to:

Reveal in Finder - This will open a Standard Finder window and allow you to select the actual document.

Open document – This will start up either QuarkXPress or InDesign depending on the type of document you have selected. If you have multiple versions of Quark or InDesign loaded on your system, PageZephyr will always use the latest version available.

You cannot open Publisher files, as PageZephyr only runs on Mac and Publisher only runs on Windows.

007 – Save Button

The Save button (1) will become active in PageZephyr (and the PageZephyr 30 Day Free Trial) when text is available in the Storyboard window. You have the option of saving the text as either RTF or TXT (2). Saving as RTF will cause PageZephyr to attempt to use the proper font and color for the text (the font must be active on your system or the system viewing the RTF file for this to work). Saving as TXT (plain text) will remove any formatting applied to text.

008 – Post Button

In order to successfully export text to your PageZephyr account, you must first have a PageZephyr account setup and second you must have enabled the XML-RPC checkbox in your PageZephyr account settings.

If you do not already have a Markzware PageZephyr account setup, you may create a new account by clicking on the Click here to create a free PageZephyr.com account link (3).
