001 – Document Display Settings

Markzware PageZephyr Document Display Preferences Settings

In the PageZephyr Preferences panes, the Document Display setting allows you to set up various viewing features for PageZephyr.

Filter empty stories (1) when enabled will not show story icons for empty stories (i.e., text boxes that are empty).

Filter stories with less than ___ characters (2) will not show stories with less than the specified number of characters. This is useful if you have a catalog or a document with a lot of captions, you can enable this feature and have PageZephyr not display the captions (as they are usually independent stories).

Show styled stories (3) – when this is enabled, PageZephyr will make its best attempt to display the actual font face and color that text in the document was created with. You must have the fonts active on your system in order for this to work. If PageZephyr cannot find a font when Show styled stories is enabled, it will substitute your default System font.

Show failed/unsupported documents (4) – when enabled, this shows a yellow warning icon for a document that has failed to index or that PageZephyr flags as unsupported. If this is disabled, PageZephyr will not show any icons for failed or unsupported documents, but will show a folder name in red text in Tree View mode, if the folder only contains failed or unsupported files.

Search query highlight color (5) – clicking on the yellow color swatch will bring up a standard Apple color selection window where you are free to change the highlight color that PageZephyr uses. The highlight color is used to show matches for search criteria that have been entered.

002 – Searching Preferences

PageZephyr Search Preference Settings

In the Searching Preferences in PageZephyr Preferences, you can select which types of documents (1) you would like PageZephyr to index. By default, all supported document types are set to be indexed.

In the Search Locations (2) area of the PageZephyr Preferences, you can add or remove paths to be searched.

003 – Removing a search path

Markzware PageZephyr Remove Search Paths

To remove a search path, highlight the path and then click on the “-” button (1)

004 – PageZephyr needs at least one path to search

Markzware PageZephyr requires one or more search paths

If you remove all search paths from the Search Folders area, PageZephyr will display a message (1) stating you need to add at least one search path. This path can be either be a folder or a volume.

005 – Setting Update Preferences

Markzware PageZephyr Preference Updating

Markzware PageZephyr can automatically check for updates. You can control how often updates will be checked for, or turn off automatic updates and check manually.

To have PageZephyr check for updates, check the Automatically check for updates box (1) . If you enable this checkbox, next select an interval to check for updates (2).

If you would like PageZephyr to automatically download available updates instead of just notifying you that a new update is available, check the Automatically download available updates checkbox (3)

If you are willing to help us out and allow anonymous data about your Mac to be sent to us (for helping with Product and Marketing decisions), please check the Allow PageZephyr to collect anonymous data about my Mac checkbox (4).

The anonymous data that would be collected if you enable this feature includes Mac OS X version, CPU type, Mac model, Number of CPUs (or number of CPU cores), 32-bit vs. 64-bit, CPU speed, Amount of RAM, Application name, Application version, and User’s preferred language.
