Q2ID (QuarkXPress to InDesign) Converting

CONVERTING A QUARKXPRESS DOCUMENT

To convert QuarkXPress documents in versions 3.32 – 9 follow these steps:

1.  From the Adobe InDesign File Menu select the “Open” option.

2.  Browse to the location of the QuarkXPress document to be converted.

3.  Single click on the Quark document and select the Open Button.

* Note:  For QuarkXPress 3.X and 4.X documents: Holding down the CONTROL-SHIFT Keys on the
Mac or the CONTROL Key on Windows while opening a Quark file will disable the Q2ID Plug-in and
allow InDesign’s internal file conversion tool to convert Quark files.

Anne-Marie Concepcion, InDesign expert, raves about Q2ID!

This InDesign plug-in by Markzware allows supported Quark files to be detected as files that you can open in InDesign.

5.  During the Quark file conversion, a progress bar will be displayed.

6. When the Markzware Q2ID plugin has finished converting the Quark file, you may now work on and save the InDesign document as you would any other InDesign file, and now know how to open Quark files such as this.

7. If the QuarkXPress document (V7.x) contains multiple “Layouts” a dialog will be displayed, allowing you to select the layout to be converted. Each layout must be converted as a separate InDesign file, since InDesign lacks this feature.
