The Inspector Panel is a light preflight overview of your document. It displays a mini inventory of what comprises your document.
Each document has its own Inspector Panel Window.
Some features of the Inspector Panel
- Can be set to show up automatically every time you open a file (found under the General Preferences Tab)
- Can be opened and closed using Command-I
- Can be dragged to any location on the screen, but if you drag it onto a second screen it will snap back to the upper middle of the Preview Window.
- (ICON) Version of InDesign the file is associated with
- Name of the document
- Version of InDesign document was last saved with
- File Size of the document on disk
- Document Creation Date
- Document Last Modified Date
- Number of Pages
- Number of Spreads
- Whether document uses Facing or Non-Facing Pages
- Dimensions of the Document
- How many fonts are used in the job
- How many fonts are missing
- How many fonts are inactive
- Number of colors associated with the document (this includes all colors listed in the color palette as well as un-named colors)
- Used – how many colors are detected as being used in the document. Even for blank documents there is usually one color listed.
- Total number of images detected in the document
- Number of images detected as missing
- Number of images detected as embedded (these could be images that were copied and pasted into a document).
- Number of Stories detected in the document.
