*1-Bit images may lose their transparency, especially if the image is missing. The solution is to locate the image and ensure it contains the desired clipping path, or manually set the clipping to “Detect Edges.”

1-Bit images may also knockout a background even though they have been set to Overprint in Quark. (These same 1-Bit files will also behave the same way if placed in a brand new InDesign document.) To address this issue you can set the 1-Bit files Blend Mode in InDesign to Multiply.
