SANTA ANA – September 29, 2005 – Markzware is pleased to announce that it has provided The University of the Arts with 600 copies of FlightCheck Studio and 500 copies of FlightCheck Professional. The entire donation holds a value of nearly $400,000. Markzware FlightCheck products have been award-winning quality assurance tools for the printing and publishing industries, since 1995.

This announcement expresses Markzware’s commitment to education in the global printing industry and to teaching best practices in print and multimedia file exchange. Throughout the years, Markzware has made software and training donations to many universities and colleges having a printing curriculum. A few of these schools include: Rochester Institute of Technology, Fox Valley Technical College’s Printing & Publishing in Wisconsin, Cal Poly of San Luis Obispo and Leicester College in England.

“Teaching your students about design is a tough enough job in itself, but without good prepress skills, those designs might not make it to press without problems,” said Harris Fogel, UArts Media Arts Chairman. “Using FlightCheck Studio in conjunction with teaching is an easy and effective way to add an everyday awareness of pre-press skills for our students. We are thrilled to have Markzware’s support and know that our students will appreciate their state-of-the-art technology when their jobs print properly the first time. They won’t have to pull all-nighters to fix their files right before printing them!”

Perfect for independent designers, design studios, design consultants, art directors, book publishers and advertising agencies, FlightCheck Studio is the essential desktop tool for anyone creating content. It provides assurance that once the file has been completed, it is “true” and will proceed through the rest of the print workflow without a hitch. If the content designer inadvertently puts a font or element in the layout design that does not meet the established TrueFileSpec, then FlightCheck Studio immediately alerts the designer, to allow the chance to correct the issue before the problem worsens. The FlightCheck Studio Inspector is used to locate specific elements that would otherwise be difficult to find, such as a photo rotated x-degrees or text set with a knockout trap.

FlightCheck Studio, works with either InDesign or QuarkXPress. Production managers can easily get everyone on the same page by creating password-protected “Design Policies,” then passing them to the Art Directors and Designers. These “Design Policies” include document information such as specific fonts, corporate spot colors or page geometry, that provide a base-line for adherence to the design specifications. When errors occur, FlightCheck Studio tracks the error to its source and automatically corrects most common problems with a single click.

Markzware‘s donation will enable the students to gain proficiency with the leading edge patented preflighting technology for the graphic arts community. We feel privileged to work with Harris Fogel and the student body at University of the Arts. We truly understand that, by helping higher level learning institutions such as the University of the Arts, their students will understand what is necessary to design digital files that will print properly the first time. Quality assurance benefits the designer, the printer and the industry as a whole. It will be great to see some of the top-notch work from these students as they move into the work force,” said Patrick Marchese, Markzware founder and president.
