Markzware FlightCheck 7.5 Mac Ground Controls:
Print Tiling
Tiling is a print output setting for page sizes that are larger than paper size. Tiling splits up the large document into pieces that can print on the actual paper and be assembled later.
Off – For most print jobs, you want tiling off. Unless you workflow requires tiling, it is recommended that users not turn on this Ground Control.
Manual – Since most workflows do not want print settings set to tile, this Ground Control is on by default to warn you if someone has set Manual Tiling. Tiling can cause more pages to be output than you are expecting, which can cause additional plates or film to be output. Tiling may also cause clipping if jobs are larger than an expected page size.
Auto – This Ground Control is on by default to warn you if someone has set AutoTiling. InDesign adds a fourth type of Tiling that Quark does not have called Auto-Justified that FlightCheck flags as Auto.
Here is a video that shows how FlightCheck can preflight print files:
FlightCheck warns if Tiling is on, or if someone has
set Manual Tiling or AutoTiling, plus more.
