Convert Microsoft Publisher to Adobe InDesign Today

If you are looking for a Publisher to InDesign converter, Pub2ID was Markzware’s original Adobe InDesign plug-in for converting Microsoft Publisher documents. Although Pub2ID is no longer available, Markzware now provides online, macOS and Windows conversion options.

  • Use MarkzPortal to upload Publisher files online and export them as IDML for Adobe InDesign.
  • Use OmniMarkz for macOS to preview and convert Publisher files to IDML.
  • Use OmniMarkz SE for Windows to inventory and convert Publisher files without requiring the original Publisher application.

How the Publisher-to-InDesign Conversion Works

  1. Upload or open the Microsoft Publisher (.pub) file.
  2. Convert and export the document as IDML.
  3. Open the IDML file in Adobe InDesign.
  4. Review the converted fonts, images and layout before editing or publishing.

IDML preserves editable document structure far better than rebuilding the publication from a PDF or recreating it manually.

What Was Pub2ID?

Pub2ID was Markzware’s Publisher-to-InDesign conversion plug-in. It transferred text, images and layout information from Microsoft Publisher documents into Adobe InDesign, saving users from manually rebuilding their publications.

The following video demonstrates the historical Pub2ID workflow. The product shown in the video has been discontinued.
