Historical customer story: Pub2ID has been discontinued. Markzware’s current Publisher conversion options are included below.

Converting Customer Publisher Files for Commercial Printing

Commercial printers often receive Microsoft Publisher files that lack proper bleeds, safe areas, usable images or other production-ready elements. Rebuilding these documents manually in Adobe InDesign can take hours.

This historical customer story shows how L. Brown & Sons Printing converted a university recruitment project from Publisher to InDesign and recovered valuable production time.

L. Brown & Sons Printing Saved Four Hours

“I had thirteen postcards for a university recruitment program. Each postcard had a different major, different color scheme, different pictures and different copy. Each card was set up in Publisher as a separate file, no images provided, no bleeds, no safe area.

I had to rebuild each card in InDesign and manually extract each image for color correcting. The total time to reconstruct the cards was about six hours.

Pub2ID converted each file and extracted the images in seconds. The only element that wasn’t preserved was the transparency. But this freed me up to fix the design problems—the color and bleed issues—much more quickly, so it saved me at least four hours.

That one job justified the cost of the software.”

G. Tony Morse, L. Brown & Sons Printing, Inc.

Convert Publisher Files Without Rebuilding Them

Although Pub2ID is no longer available, printers can still convert customer Publisher files into IDML for editing in Adobe InDesign:

After conversion, open the IDML file in Adobe InDesign and review transparency, fonts, images, colors, bleeds and other production requirements before printing.
