Search INDD CC (Creative Cloud) files, using Markzware‘s PageZephyr Search Mac:
PageZephyr Search is a simple content search tool from Markzware. It allows people to find keywords in InDesign CC or CS file formats. Users can either open the document in Adobe InDesign or copy out the text. This search tool enables users to search through InDesign files on Spotlight-indexed volumes to find keywords. The found keywords are highlighted in the search results.
PageZephyr Search allows you to click on the highlighted word. If you have a version of InDesign that can open that file, the file will be opened in InDesign. You will be taken to that word in the InDesign document. You can also copy and paste text out of PageZephyr Search in plain text format (TXT).

PageZephyr Search can find text in InDesign CS through InDesign CC native files.
PageZephyr Search Mac:
- Indexes content within Apple Macintosh storage volumes that have Spotlight enabled.
- Supports InDesign CS through InDesign CC files.
- Goes to the highlighted search term in InDesign for context awareness.
- Does not need Adobe InDesign installed or running.
How to Content Search with PageZephyr Search Mac:
- Type in the word you’re seeking.
- Hit Enter. (You’ll see a list of files on the left and the text within the highlighted file on the right.)
- To see the word in context, right click “Show Selection in Document”. (If you have an appropriate version of InDesign loaded, it’ll highlight that word and show you where it is in the document.)
- To Copy and Paste the text out, you can either click and drag to select text, or hit Command-A (Select All), and select Copy. (That will copy the text to your clipboard, which makes it available for use in other applications.)
