QXPMarkz for macOS (QuarkXPress to InDesign)
QXP to InDesign, QXP to IDML and more! Take control of your creations with QXPMarkz® for macOS, Markzware’s next generation QXP conversion utility. (A Windows version is also available.) QXPMarkz converts QuarkXPress files to IDML to open in Adobe InDesign, Affinity Publisher, older QuarkXPress versions, or other DTP applications. Designers have relied on Markzware’s InDesign plug-in, Q2ID, for decades. QXPMarkz offers the same functionality, as a stand-alone application. QXPMarkz converts .QXP documents to IDML!
CS4 or newer
v1.8 or newer
QXPMarkz enables you to export QuarkXPress files to numerous non-proprietary file types, including IDML, PDF, TIFF, PNG, JPEG, and GIF. You can also open .QXP files in an earlier version of QuarkXPress or in another application!
Export QuarkXPress text stories as RTF, HTML, or plain-text (TXT). This is very useful if you need to re-purpose the content of a file but not the layout. Text formatting is maintained in the exported content.
QXPMarkz is designed to make complex tasks quick and easy. Preview your document, then, with a single click, open the file in InDesign, Affinity Publisher, an older version of QuarkXPress* (2017 or newer), other pre-defined applications, or define your own destination application.
Users who are familiar with our Q2ID InDesign Plug-Ins appreciate the ease of converting QuarkXPress documents, directly, within InDesign. QXPMarkz comes with the same type of integration, allowing users to choose “Open QuarkXPress File…” right from the InDesign File menu. The selected document will be converted by QXPMarkz and opened in InDesign, automating the entire QuarkXPress-to-InDesign file conversion process.
You can get a download that lets you use the QXPMarkz preview feature, for free! This freebie is a great tool for viewing QuarkXPress documents, at no cost. The exporting features can be enabled at any time, with the purchase of a license.
A few years ago we made a business decision to migrate from QXP to ID … QXPMarkz has been invaluable for us; we have been able to gradually migrate documents over to ID with very little complication, so the client has been happy and so have we.

Annually publishing a PRICED 768-page catalog with approximately 17,000 prices, when the linkage app for Quark was at its end of life, changing to InDesign was essential. QXPMarkz conversion is extremely easy and accurate.

This software works just as it’s billed! Opens up QuarkXPress files with ease and very little tweaking needed. I was pleasantly surprised when I began working with this tool. … Highly recommended to anyone wanting to make the switch.

Our company has been soley a QuarkXPress user for decades till a few years ago when we had a major upgrade in our system and suddenly could only use InDesign. QXPMarkz has been a life saver in this transition in majorly reducing the work load when converting the ads over for clients that want only a few changes on their monthly advertising. There are only a few wonky transfers like paragraph distancing between text boxes. But that is easily fixed in the InDesign document. If it weren't for those type small issues this would be a 5 star review. Even now when a past client decides to advertise again after several years, I am so pleased that I can pull the QuarkXPress ad and convert it easily to keep their same layout and feel without having to start from scratch. I believe it even keeps the links in tact, so no having to go a hunt for ad elements. I couldn't recommend this product any stronger, it was a life saver in our business!
This is an amazing conversion tool. I've worked for 20+ years in both Quark & Indesign due to clients working with both programs. I've always had my 'preferred' program, and QXP Markz gives me the ability to convert current and old Quark files to IDML quickly and easily. A must have for designers and typesetters.
Without QXPMARKZ, we could not have given our old magazine list the modern update we needed! Converting our old Quark files into InDesign was simple, and the service was next level. Highly recommended!
We have a long-standing client with a large body of literature that has been designed over the course of a good number of years. A few years ago we made a business decision to migrate from QXP to ID, but there was quite a bit of concern about whether or not we would be able to continue to service our client's ongoing requirement for literature updates. QXPMarkz has been invaluable for us; we have been able to gradually migrate documents over to ID with very little complication, so the client has been happy and so have we.
You wouldn't expect a horribly named software like QXPMARKZ to get you a return on a few hundred dollars, but if you have Quark or mixed-use software archives that have lapsed from print, their extraction algorithm outstrips the Quark/.Indd divide. Well worth the investment!
Annually publishing a PRICED 768-page catalog with approximately 17,000 prices, when the linkage app for Quark was at its end of life, changing to InDesign was essential. QXPMarkz conversion is extremely easy and accurate. Fortunately, XTags permits bringing the price linkages across, saving me untold hours of work.
QXPMarkz has saved me hundreds of hours of work! The conversion is reliable and accurate, way more than I was expecting. I highly recommend this software if you have work to convert from Quark to InDesign.
We had some ancient Quark files that needed to be resurrected and formatted for our journal archives. QXPMarkz saved the day.
I have been using/recommending Q2ID for my other clients, which was already awesome, but QXPMarkz takes it up a notch by allowing even more options for converting QuarkXPress files beyond just InDesign.
