As the provider of print solution, FlightCheck, Markzware reported “Adobe drops Print Service Provider Program – a Quark opportunity?” This is news that seemed to not go over well with printers and print shops around the world. Since then, we have seen it turn to outrage (such as in the “Adobe, you’re breaking my heart” piece from print industry guru, Frank Romano).
Thus, in all fairness, it is good to also get the Adobe side of things. Which you can, in this post from WhatTheyThink, which offers printing and publishing news:

Now, we all know that the Apple tablet is to be announced today (with or without epub format support is the question!). Could it be that Adobe sees print drying up and all publishing switching to Steve Job’s latest innovation? I doubt Adobe PDF or InDesign will be dropped soon at all and as a matter of a fact, the new “iSlate” (I hope it is not called that really, as many are saying) could rub Adobe’s hairs the wrong way.
Check out what Adobe has to say and of course it looks like cost savings and for now, I would say leave it at that. Print will not disappear, just because Adobe removed a service and program not used much by many printers with whom I spoke. Adobe is not dropping PDF or InDesign for the print market.
