Markzware FlightCheck is Now Compatible with PageMaker 6
SANTA ANA, CA – May 15, 1996 – Markzware announces today the release of FlightCheck v2.0 with PageMaker 6.0 compatibility.
Markzware’s FlightCheck is the 1995 Eddy award-winning software product in the “Best Prepress Application” category. According to Mark Brunst, Computer Production Artist, Lewis Galoob Toys, “After doing a lot of research on pre press software, FlightCheck® consistently came to the top – and I agree that it’s the best prepress software proofing product on the market.”
Detecting Document Problems
FlightCheck performs its magic by examining native files created by applications such as QuarkXPress, PageMaker and Illustrator. FlightCheck has the ability to detect over 140 potential printing problems before a job is sent to film. Furthermore, several new features are evident within version 2.0, including compatibility with PageMaker 6.0.
According to Michelle Stuchill, Director of Training/London Litho, “In the world of preflight, FlightCheck should be a required tool in anybody’s Macintosh toolbox. It is like trying to fly a plane without wings. It just won’t fly.”
Improving client and vendor communication
Markzware FlightCheck 2.0 contains robust new features based upon the most popular requests of surveyed users. For example, FlightCheck’s Ground Controls:
- allow the user to customize which specific document items will be checked
- can now be password protected
- can be saved to a disk file
- can be reloaded at any time as desired
This file has been flightchecked and can now be included in the job folder, along with a preflight report. This adds a more direct communications vehicle between the client and vendor. As Dick Fergosi, owner of Litho Color says “FlightCheck is very useful because it allows me to go to the customer and let them know what they have missed in the document and back it up with a print out of the customer’s own data file to show them exactly what is wrong.”
Designing and utilizing customized output forms with FlightCheck is easier than ever. That’s because special data fields can be created on a custom form that will automatically display information about a document’s fonts, colors, images and so forth whenever the custom form template is opened.
FlightCheck Education
Publishing professionals are currently taking heed that preflighting has now become an extremely critical stage in the print workflow. Educational training courses on the FlightCheck preflight solution are now being conducted throughout the country.
Prepress manager, Jim Jordan of Waller Media concludes: “I teach classes and use FlightCheck to demonstrate for PINC in Northern California. It is very fast, very efficient and gives a lot of information at the very start. We would like all of our clients to have it!”
FlightCheck‘s comprehensive document-checking and report-generation capabilities have quickly made it a de facto standard in the printing and publishing industries. MacWeek’s Tom Gellerto proclaims, “FlightCheck is a wonderful package that will pay for itself in saved film and plates.”
Markzware specializes in developing intelligent prepress software and more products for the graphic arts and printing industry worldwide.
