How to install Markzware‘s MarkzTools for InDesign on the Macintosh platform:
Installing MarkzTools for InDesign on your Mac
While this section shows installation of MarkzTools for InDesign CS6 on a Mac, the same general steps apply to installation under CS5.5 and CS5. The name of the ZIP file you download and the name of the Setup program you run will change to reflect the version of MarkzTools your are installing.
MarkzTools for InDesign ZIP File
When you have completed your download of MarkzTools for InDesign, you will have a zip file that needs to
be decompressed.
Decompressing the MarkzTools for InDesign ZIP file
On most Macs you can simply double-click the MarkzTools ZIP file and this will produce a folder.
Double-click this folder to reveal the MarkzTools for InDesign Installer.
Running the MarkzTools for InDesign Installer
Double-click the Setup CS6 icon to start the MarkzTools for InDesign installation process. For installing under CS5.5 and CS5 the Setup program will be named either Setup CS5.5 or Setup CS5.
Application Downloaded From Internet
On many Macs the security settings are set to warn you if you are trying to run an application downloaded from the internet. You can change these settings on your Mac under the Preferences/Security area (it is safest to leave this warning on as a prevention against malicious apps you may accidentally download while surfing the net).
Click the Open button to open up the Setup Installer application. Most likely due to the above warning, you will see the Setup icon bouncing in your Dock. If nothing is happening, please check your Dock and if the Setup icon is bouncing, Click on it to continue with the installation process.
MarkzTools Setup Window
The Setup application has three buttons:
1. Cancel – will Close the Setup application and MarkzTools for InDesign will not be installed.
2. Install – will proceed with the MarkzTools for InDesign installation.
3. Remove – will remove and deactivate existing installations of MarkzTools for InDesign CS6.
Select InDesign Folder Manually if Setup cannot auto find InDesign folder
The Choose a Folder option will only appear if the Setup program cannot locate your Adobe InDesign folder, or you have multiple versions of Adobe InDesign installed. Otherwise when you run the Setup program, you will be asked for your Username and Password as shown in the next step.
Installer asking for a password
Installing MarkzTools for InDesign requires you enter in your Password as MarkzTools will be adding items to your Applications folder. Type in your User Name and Password and then click the OK button.
**If the Setup program automatically finds your InDesign folder, you will be asked for your User name and Password without having to manually locate your InDesign folder.
MarkzTools for InDesign Installation Complete
Once the MarkzTools for InDesign plugin has been installed you will see a confirmation screen. Click the OK button to close the screen. You are now ready to start up InDesign and to activate and register MarkzTools for data conversion.
