Markzware‘s FlightCheck, the patented preflight solution to check prepress files for print quality control, has Non-PDF
Ground Controls. These include a Page Size section under Pages. This Page Size section includes the following Ground Controls:

Markzware FlightCheck 7.5 Mac Ground Controls:
Pages Page Size

Width – This Ground Control triggers if the document’s page width is greater than the printable area width for a specified device (e.g., imagesetter). This will cause clipping of part of your intended print area. This GC only triggers if a job had a maximum printable width stored in its Printer’s data record. This is usually accomplished by printing the document to some device and then saving the document. (This width of the output is ascertained from the Printer Driver.)

Height – This Ground Control triggers if the document’s page height is greater than the printable area height for a specified device (e.g., imagesetter). This will cause clipping of part of your intended print area. This GC only triggers if a job had a maximum printable height stored in its Printer’s data record. This is usually accomplished by printing the document to some device and then saving the document. This height information is ascertained from the Printer Driver.

FlightCheck will warn you if page width/height exceeds the
printable area width/height for specified device, and more.
