Markzware develops FlightCheck, the patented preflighting software to check digital files for printers. With this pre press software, printers can ensure print quality of document output. Markzware develops products for the marketing, print and publishing industries. So, we remain alert to opportunities for printers and noticed reports on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification):
Radio Frequency Identification or RFID, is an interesting technology akin to ‘big brother is watching’. It also provides numerous opportunities for printers and for graphic arts in general. RFID tags are widely used in various products to automate the “checking in” and “checking out” process from warehouse or store inventories. The question is: Does RFID stop calling home? (The chip stays with the item.)
Markzware wondered how RFID may be used in preflighting, as for preflight reports in FlightCheck preflight solution. This two part video by Markzware sheds light on RFID technology and includes interviews with RFID experts at the Future Print booth at Graph Expo:
RFID – Friend or Foe – Opportunities for Printers (Part 1 of 2)
RFID – Friend or Foe – Opportunities for Printers (Part 2 of 2)
This stand was specially hosted by the show management! Now, imagine RFID technology used within your printed piece. Imagine how a cell phone could scan that printed piece (e.g., an advertisement) and give details back on that product to the potential buyer – or even order it! Imagine handing out 10,000 brochures at an event. How many took them out the door and did not throw them out? How about preflight report tracking when you preflight digital files with FlightCheck? How about a printed preflight report (on paper) that includes the digital job ‘within the paper!’ Or, how about a proof print, with the preflight report embedded ‘within the paper’ on the RFID chip? Or… What ideas do you have?
While you’re thinking about your comments, remember to use FlightCheck, the preflight solution to preflight digital files and check documents in several file formats for print quality assurance. FlightCheck is available online at the FlightCheck page. When you run across opportunities for printers, including those created by Radio Frequency Identification, please contact Markzware.
