View and Export Styled Stories
Get access to the story content of an InDesign file, using ID Util for macOS. Export the styled stories as RTF, TXT, or HTML or select and copy directly from the preview window. This comes in handy when you don’t have InDesign installed on your system, or if you receive InDesign files from others, but do not have access to InDesign yourself.

How to Export InDesign Styled Stories to HTML, RTF, or TXT, via ID Util:
When viewing an Adobe InDesign document, you will see ID Util‘s “Export” button in the Toolbar (at the top left of the Preview window). Clicking this button will bring up the Export Panel, giving you the option to choose the format in which you would like to export the file. An export folder will be created at the chosen destination containing the previews and story content.

Export Previews as PNG, JPG or PDF
ID Util also allows you to export InDesign previews to the following formats:
• PNG (When you export as png a folder with the job name + “.png” will be created and each page will be exported as a PNG file.)
• JPG (When you export as jpg, a folder with the job name + “.jpg” will be created and each page will be exported as a jpg file.)
• PDF (A single, multiple-page Portable Document Format file will be created.)

You may need to access the text in the InDesign file, but not need other items in the layout, at a given time. Maybe you need to use the document for another purpose, or just need to copy out the text. ID Util allows you to view the styled stories, as well as to extract text and export to a number of popular formats.
