InDesign to Affinity Publisher highlighted by DTP industry expert

Adobe InDesign to Affinity Publisher, via Markzware IDMarkz, highlighted at CreativePro Week 2020 during the presentation from Mike Rankin!

Last week, during the very successful CreativePro Week 2020, this year of course, an online event, we saw a lot of great tutorials and learning sessions about industry leading Adobe InDesign. There was also a popular session on the new Desktop Publishing (DTP) application in town, Affinity Publisher!

That session was titled, “Affinity: New Kid on the Block” and was done by InDesignSecrets Editor-in-Chief, Mike Rankin. Mike is also a Linkedin Learning Author. He spoke about Adobe vs Affinity, in general (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign vs Serif’s Affinity product line). In particular, he really dove into InDesign vs Affinity Publisher. This is when Mr. Rankin also highlighted a NEW Markzware conversion tool, IDMarkz!

Adobe InDesign to Affinity Publisher via IDMarkz from Markzware

Note: I mentioned PDF to InDesign is possible, via PDF2DTP. (And that is one of the biggest powers of Adobe and InDesign: it’s third-party developer program, which allows companies like Markzware, to make extensions and add-ons to improve publishing workflows.)

In the detailed and educational handouts CreativePro Week provided, Mike had this to say about Markzware IDMarkz:

“(Affinity) Publisher can open IDML files and PDFs, and save their contents as a native Publisher file. It can also place PDFs and IDML files as embedded (uneditable) documents. It cannot open or place InDesign files (INDDs). If you cancel your Creative Cloud subscription, you’ll need a way to create IDML files. One option is IDMarkz by Markzware, which can open INDDs and save IDML files for opening in Publisher. IDMarkz is available on a subscription basis or as a one-time purchase. Currently, it is only available for macOS.” Source: https://creativeproweek.com

Mike loves IDMarkz. Check out a fragment of his presentation in this video. IDMarkz will preview, export and transition InDesign files. InDesign to Affinity Publisher, but also InDesign to QuarkXPress or InDesign to InDesign! (Open newer versions of InDesign files in earlier InDesign versions.) You can get a free version of IDMarkz, to preview files, and can learn more about Markzware’s app to process InDesign files, here: https://markzware.com/products/idmarkz/
