How to activate Markzware’s MarkzTools2 application, InDesign to IDML file conversion software to convert a newer version of Adobe InDesign to an earlier version or to InDesign Markup Language:
The following article provides the steps for successful activation of MarkzTools2, the stand-alone application by Markzware for file conversion from InDesign to IDML. Markzware offers a full line of products, including conversion tools, such as MarkzTools2, for InDesign file (INDD document) users. Read on, to learn how to activate MarkzTools2, so that you can convert InDesign to InDesign Markup Language.
MarkzTools2 Activation
When you first start up MarkzTools2, it will communicate with Markzware‘s License Server, in order to activate. If this communication is successful, MarkzTools2 activation can occur.
In the following image, the left screen (1) may appear so briefly, you may not even notice it. If your internet connection is slow or blocked, it will likely remain on your screen for a bit longer.
Screen #2 will appear and confirm activation of your MarkzTools2 application, which is then able to launch. Click the Close button and Screen #2 will close. Please fill out the form on the Registration Screen, before using MarkzTools2.

MarkzTools2 Activation Failure
MarkzTools2 communicates with the License Server via internet ports (HTTP/HTTPS on port 80/443). If the internet connection is slow or blocked, the following screen will appear. Click the Close button to close the screen.
If you have issues, contact Markzware Tech Support.
Non-Activated MarkzTools2
If MarkzTools2 could not reach the Markzware License Server, you may be able to run the product for a while. However, whenever you start up MarkzTools2, a screen will appear to remind you to activate the product by a specified date. Please activate MarkzTools2 before this expiration date.
This screen may show when an active Proxy Server at your location blocks MarkzTools2. If this window continuously appears, please contact Markzware Tech Support.
MarkzTools2 Proxy Setup
Access the proxy settings by clicking the word here.
Enter Proxy Information for MarkzTools2. (If you do not have the proxy server setup information on hand, please contact your IT or Support person.) Click the Save button, then click the Close button. To see if the proxy settings you entered will work, please Quit and Restart MarkzTools2.
Successful MarkzTools2 Activation
When the proxy data you entered allows contact with the Markzware License Server, a screen will appear to notify you of successful activation. Click the Close button to close the screen. You can then use MarkzTools2.
If the successful activation screen does not appear, please ask your Support Department to verify the proxy server information. If the issue persists, please contact Markzware Technical Support.

To convert an INDD document to IDML, using MarkzTools2, just drag the document icon to the main MarkzTools2 window. (You can also convert InDesign to IDML, by choosing an InDesign document via the File -> Convert menu.) When the data conversion is complete, the IDML file will appear in the File -> Recent menu.
