OmniMarkz MCP Quick Start

1. Install or update OmniMarkz

Download and install the latest version of OmniMarkz for macOS or OmniMarkz SE for Windows. The newest release includes both the Conversion Center and the built-in MCP Server.

Download OmniMarkz

Need help? See the OmniMarkz Installation and Activation Guide.

2. Enable the MCP Server

Launch OmniMarkz and open Settings > MCP. Choose your preferred AI assistant—ChatGPT Desktop, Claude Desktop, or Cursor—and install the MCP connection. Restart your AI application after installation.

3. Open a supported publishing file

In your AI assistant, drag and drop an Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher, QuarkXPress, PDF, or other supported publishing file into the chat window.

Ask OmniMarkz MCP to inspect, analyze, or convert the document using natural-language instructions.

4. Convert the document

Request a conversion such as:

  • Convert this file to IDML
  • Export this document as PDF
  • Generate MZJSON
  • Extract images from this document

OmniMarkz performs the conversion while preserving the document’s editable structure whenever possible.

5. Analyze the document with AI

Go beyond conversion by asking questions such as:

  • Create a file inventory.
  • List all fonts used.
  • Show linked images.
  • Count the pages.
  • Identify missing fonts or images.
  • Summarize the document contents.

AI assistants can use OmniMarkz MCP to inspect and report on supported publishing files.

6. Open or continue working with the converted file

Download the converted document and continue editing it in Adobe InDesign, Affinity Publisher, or another supported application. You can also continue asking your AI assistant questions about the document or request additional conversions.
