Microsoft 365 subscribers lose access to Publisher on October 1, 2026 — but most organizations do not know how many .pub files they have. The new OmniMarkz 2026 Conversion Center finds, inventories, previews, and batch converts legacy publishing files into usable formats.

Most organizations have no idea.

Over the years, employees have created thousands of Publisher brochures, newsletters, flyers, manuals, forms, and other business documents. Many of those .pub files are now scattered across local computers, network drives, archives, and shared storage.

That is becoming an urgent problem.

Microsoft 365 subscribers will lose access to Publisher on October 1, 2026. Support for Publisher 2021 and Office LTSC 2021 ends on October 13, 2026. Organizations should inventory and migrate important .PUB files before October 1 so critical documents remain accessible, editable and reusable. Learn more from Microsoft.

Find, Inventory and Batch Convert Publisher Files

This is the problem we built the new Conversion Center to solve. It is the headline feature of OmniMarkz 2026, available today.

Point the Conversion Center at a drive or folder, and it will:

OmniMarkz SE Conversion Center displaying 192 discovered Publisher, InDesign, QuarkXPress, PDF, Affinity, and Illustrator files ready for batch conversion to IDML.

The OmniMarkz SE Conversion Center provides a centralized view of discovered files, formats, locations, and conversion status.

Start a Free Publisher File Assessment

The free Conversion Center is included with OmniMarkz on Mac and OmniMarkz SE on Windows.

That inventory report is especially useful for organizations planning a larger Microsoft Publisher migration. It gives IT, communications, marketing, and design teams a clearer picture of the files they have before deciding what should be preserved, converted, archived, or retired.

Once important files have been identified, OmniMarkz MCP enables compatible AI assistants to inspect, analyze, and help process supported publishing documents. Learn more in Talk to Your Publishing Files with OmniMarkz MCP.

Preserve More Than a Flat PDF

Converting a Publisher file to PDF can preserve its appearance, but it does not preserve the original document as a fully editable publication.

OmniMarkz can convert Publisher content to IDML, providing a practical path into applications such as Adobe InDesign, Affinity, and QuarkXPress. It can also produce PDF and other formats for documents that only need to be viewed, shared, or archived.

This release includes our deepest Microsoft Publisher conversion support yet, with improved preservation of:

Flat publication converted into separate, editable text, image, shape, and layout elements for continued design work.

OmniMarkz converts Microsoft Publisher files to editable IDML, preserving separate text, images, and layout elements—not merely a flat PDF.

Start With an Inventory

You do not need to begin by converting everything.

The Conversion Center can scan your storage, identify supported files, and export an inventory report. From there, you can prioritize active materials, recurring publications, branded templates, historical documents, and anything else worth preserving.

Publishing files from shared storage being scanned, organized by file type, and summarized in a centralized inventory report.

The Conversion Center scans storage, inventories supported files, and exports a report before conversion.
