QuarkXPress file conversion can be useful to graphic designers and layout artists at publishing houses that use QuarkXPress (including some on the old Quark 4.11!). Many have switched or are switching between publishing programs. Migrating from one page layout program to another can be tricky. InDesign plugin, Q2ID (Quark to InDesign) can help. Linkedin.com Group FOLIO: MediaPRO — Magazine & eMedia Publishing Professionals posed a question with specifics and Markzware wanted to share with you a response:
“I switched our entire dept. of 27 mags (at the time) from Quark 6.5 to InDesign CS2 – this was a while back – also switched all our editors over in InCopy. It was the best move we made for streamlining the process. The stability of producing PDFs with no fuss. Seem less with Photoshop and Illustrator. It’s always nice in import a .psd and lay it over a background etc.
The learning curve was minimal. Look into Lynda.com for training online – economical and very well done.
Once you switch over… You’ll wonder why you ever used Quark and will never want to go back!
