Convert PageMaker files to QuarkXPress v5.0
XTensions Module Explodes With Powerful New Features
SANTA ANA, California – June 28, 2002 – Markzware’s PM2Q 5 is an XTension module that converts PageMaker files into a QuarkXPress v5.0 document easily and efficiently. The newly released PM2Q 5 v1.3 now supports the ability to convert PageMaker files to QuarkXPress v5.0 for the following items:
- Layers
- runaround all sides from the obstruction object
- runaround path that doesn’t match the box
- Pantone Hexachrome
In addition, PM2Q 5 displays QuarkXPress v5.0 missing font dialog enabling replacement of fonts. QuarkXPress is a popular electronic publishing software application. Many service bureaus and printers prefer to work with QuarkXPress formatted digital files due to their workflow considerations.
NOTE: PM2Q is discontinued. For info on converting PageMaker legacy files to InDesign (INDD) or QuarkXPress (QXP), please see the Markzware File Conversion Service.
“The newest release of PM2Q lets QuarkXPress users who still receive PageMaker files save time by easily importing legacy documents into QuarkXPress 5.0,” said Brett Mueller, senior product marketing manager, Quark Inc. “It also gives the tens of thousands of PageMaker users migrating to QuarkXPress the ability to re-use data from older applications.”
Layers are “tiers” of a page layout document. PM2Q5 now allows you to preserve and convert PageMaker layers into a QuarkXPress v5.0 document.
The PageMaker text runaround feature lets you control the way text runs behind, around, or within items and pictures. PM2Q 5 makes sure text runarounds will translate into QuarkXPress v5.0, regardless of the box shape, and lets you control the way text runs behind, around, or within items and pictures. The Pantone Hexachrome color system is fully supported, ensuring correct color mapping using six unique Pantone process inks.
PM2Q 5 now supports the QuarkXPress v5.0 missing font dialog enabling replacement of fonts that are not active on the system and are used in the document being converted. A PM2Q preference has been added to the QuarkXPress 5 preference menu that gives the user the ability to select the language they would like the PM2Q 5 menu to display. This preference also allows the user to synchronize the language displayed on PM2Q 5 with the language of the current operating system.
PM2Q 5 is available for Macintosh and Windows systems and is supported as a Quark XTension on QuarkXPress v5.0 only. For older versions of QuarkXPress, Markzware’s original PM2Q™ v6.2 is available for those who have not upgraded to QuarkXPress v5.0. “PM2Q5 preserves the time and investment of original PageMaker files, and, saves time using the content in QuarkXPress v5.0,” said Patrick Marchese, president of Markzware.
