Here are data conversion limitations involved when you convert PDF to QuarkXPress:

Drop Shadows in a PDF generated by QuarkXPress convert to images. If the font is missing, the image will not match the characters of the substituted font. Drop Shadows on separate text cannot be handled by QuarkXPress, which instead applies the Drop Shadow to the text box.

Section Formats are not retained in PDFs exported from QuarkXPress.

Unnamed non-spot colors using a shade (tint value) will appear as the tint defined at 100%.

Blends/Gradients of more than 2 colors in a PDF will result in a blend of only the first and last color in the blend.

Overflow text characters will be missing from the PDF.

Pathnames lost when QuarkXPress generates a PDF include BMP, GIF, PDF, PICT, and PDF.

Image types not supported by QuarkXPress include PCX, PXR, and TGA.

Opaque text with opaque settings will be generated by QuarkXPress as Outline shapes.

Modified paragraph styles may include Character or Paragraph Style names preceded by a “+” due to local formatting changes (likely different Space Before/After settings).
