The stand-alone MarkzTools2 app gives you several options to use for customizing batch conversion from InDesign to IDML. You can move MarkzTools2 options to a different location in its main window, as you wish.

You can select the location of the new IDML, via the “Create IDML in” option. MarkzTools2 will create your new IDML in the same folder that contains the original document, via the “Document Location” option. If you want MarkzTools to create the new IDML in the /Users/…/Documents folder, use the “~/Documents” option. To navigate to a folder or to create a new folder for IDML destination, click the “Other” button, which will activate the “Browse” button.

MarkzTools2’s “If IDML Exists” section allows you to replace or not replace an IDML or create a new IDML using a unique filename. The original IDML generated by InDesign will not be replaced and MarkzTools2 will create a new IDML. You can replace and/or rename the original file, if you so choose.

Drag and Drop InDesign Files onto MarkzTools2 for Conversion to IDML:
Adobe InDesign creates a gray tint box as an image placeholder, when InDesign opens an IDML that refers to an image which cannot be located. To create low-resolution previews for these missing images, you can select the “Create Previews” option. Since the preview files will be created in the “Links” sub-folder, you’ll be able to locate the placeholders quickly for updating. These previews will be lo-res versions of the original images.

During the file conversion process, MarkzTools2 shows you a conversion progress window. If you like, you can move the Progress window to a different location on the screen. To abandon the conversion process, you can click “Cancel”, at any time.

From the “After Conversion” section in MarkzTools2, you can select additional options to be performed after IDML creation. Open the IDML as a new document within InDesign, by selecting the “Open IDML in InDesign” option. Go to the location of the IDML, by selecting the “Reveal in Finder” option in MarkzTools2.
